What can I say?
My SIL invited me, and the other SILs, to go to her best friend's bachelorette party. Now, I like the friend, but we only hung out once a few weeks ago. I know she invited us to be nice and b/c she thought it would be fun. But I don't know most of the people going and the other SILs are not going - what's a good reason for not being able to go?
I thought about saying my parents are away (Which they will be) and I need to go take care of things at their house, but DH said that sounds lame. Any thoughts?

Just tell her that you have plans for that night...and make some quickly!  You can say that you and a friend had tentative plans and they just got finalized. Or you can just thank her for the invitation and say, honestly, that you're going to opt not to go since you don't know the bride very well, but you'd love to have a girls' night out another night.

I may have to go the honesty route here - the party isn't until July 20th, so she knows I don't tend to make plans that far in advance. I mean its possible, but not likely. keep em coming please.

Are you going to be invited to this girl's wedding? If not, it's rude to be invited to her bachelorette party.

Nope, I'm not going to be invited to the wedding. I think SIL just thought it'd be fun.
Any other ideas? These are all good, its just she knows a lot about me, and my siblings and friends don't live too nearby, so certain excuses won't work.
