Would this annoy you????
I dont know why, but its buggin the hell out of me!!! 
yesterday, SIL calls me and asks me what we got FIL (hers and DH's dad) for fathers day. I said we just got him a $50 gift card to Sears so that he can get new the new tool set he's been eyeing. fine.
so she just calls our house to say that her and her FH are at PC richards buying FIL a new 37" tv...and then also doesnt forget to tell us that its $1000.
why are you calling me to tell me this? i'm so annoyed because i KNOW its her FH because he HAS to top everything anyone does! but WHY are they like this???? i would never call someone to rub it in their face! 
am i being nuts? or would this bug you too?????

that would definitely bother me! I mean, that's great that they can afford such an extravagant gift and your FIL will be thrilled no doubt. but I would still be PO'd

That's great if she can do it, but so tacky of her to tell you the price, etc. It would irritate me, but I wouldn't think twice about it really. Your FIL will love both gifts. You can't buy a Dad's love.

Yes that would annoy me. If she had done it without consulting me first, it wouldn't but it sounds like one upping because she checked first.
It may not be the case bc the other person could have had the idea of getting that before she called.

I can't stand people like that.
We are very lucky...DH's sister and BIL are pretty wealthy and they never make us feel inferior.
They got FIL a 42" flat screen for his birthday and the only reason we ever found out is cuz FIL told us, he was so excited about getting his own TV.

Yes, that would annoy me too. Is there anything else you could get him as well and not tell her? I would in future lie about what gifts you get, tell her you got something REALLY expensive and then she'll go out and spend more money. Tee hee
