Did you ever call a party line?
LOL! I remember back in the day when I was like a preteen, party lines were all the rage. I remember calling one at my girlfriends sleepover & pretending we were 18. We spoke to a bunch of pervy guys. I know, weird & random, it just popped in my head for some reason.

OMG yes./. and my friends and I ran up all of our parents bills and go tin trouble so many times!!! I guess it was better than the internet .... now it's worse for kids!!!

YES!!!
And me and my sister would pick up two different phones in the house and pretned we were friends that met on the party line.
We would say "OMG< HOW ARE YOU?" etc...
We laugh about this today still.

I had a lot of sleep overs and I dont remember doing this. But we did send pizza to peoples houses that we did not like.

OMG yes - I was young and ignored all that stuff they said in the beginning... blah blah blah for the 1st 3 minutes... blah blah blah for every minute after that....
But boy did I get blah blah BLAHD by my dad when the $80 phone bill arrived I had to pay him with my bday money!!!
ETA - my friends and I hit gold when we discovered for a while you could call for free from pay phones (we lived in Manhattan) and cut so many classes on these stupid party lines... then my dumb friend invited one of the guys over to our HS Good thing he was a teenager like he said - but he was so gross... we hid from him and the guy was asking everyone in our HS where Emily was... so people found out she invited him from a party line, and embarassed the hell out of her... we decided never again!!!

My cousin actually married someone who was a moderator on one of those Teen Lines.
Its a pretty white trash story, he had gotten out of jail and spent a lot of time on the phone and I guess it was true love or something.
I guess its too bad he wasnt out of jail that long before he got again...no happily ever after on that story

When I was in JHS, and my mom was NOT happy about the $250 phone bill. I had to pay for it with my babysitting money and then she blocked all of those calls.

I didn't but, 2 of my friends did all the time. I never got it.
So weird that I was just talking about this. My one friend met a guy on their & he came out with us one night. And one of our friends knew him. He was married to her neighbor!! I don't think she ever called a party line again.

$400 here - I think I was maybe 10 or 11. The worst thing was that I was such a little sh!t, I said that it was my older brother who ran up the bill, not me. I was supposed to be the "good" one, so of course they believed me
