Don't do it! LOL
Seriously, I haven't hung in that hood for a while but in all honesty that place scares me.

Re: Bushwick
In the past two years, its been up and coming. There are tons of lofts that have easy access to the L (which is the draw for those who work in Manhattan) FM me for more info. I'll give you the low down on the current state of bushwick, I have inside info

Re: Bushwick
You live like 5 minutes away! When I lived in w'burg my BIL lived in Bushwick. Hated it. I actually liked w'burg better than Bushwick, and I didn't like w'burg much as I've mentioned before. At least there were things to do and place to go in the neighborhood.

Re: Bushwick
I guess it is up and coming but IMO it's still a "lock-down" neighborhood (aka keep your car doors locked)!

Agreed. One of my closest friends lives there and is dying to get out. She was born and raised, and while it's one of the "hotter" neighborhoods now, she's still uncomfortable walking home from the train to her house.
She also lives in what is considered the "better" parts of the area. She's about ten minutes from Broadway - not too far from Marcy.

Re: Bushwick
Bushwick is pretty big and I don't know what part you are referring to. I grew up there. I lived on Wilson Avenue near Menahan Street. St. Barbara's Church was just up the block from me on Central Avenue. This was a long time ago when the neighborhood was changing and not for the better. The neighborhood took a real downhill turn. I know they are trying to revitalize it, but, if it is anything close to what it was and what I remember, stay away. I loved living there and I hated to see the way it became. It used to be such a great place.

Re: Bushwick
My dad used to be a cop in the 83rd pct., which I believe is Bushwick. It wasn't a good area back then, I am not sure how much its changed in the past 15-20 years.

Re: Bushwick
Jes, Born and raised there. To tell you what a family friendly neighborhood is was YEARS AGO, you wouldn't believe me. I wouldn't go back if the house was free.
It is up and coming, but not as up and coming as the 'burg. You have more at your disposal now, so stay put!!

I grew up on Wilson and Halsey St. Three blocks from the Halsey L station.
