I get hesistant about posting opinions that go against the majority because I am afraid of geting flamed. Also, I keep some personal stuff to myself. Overall, I feel that this site is anonymous.

Actually Jes, you're wrong. I've never had issues with you before. We've shared info about our dogs, and replied to many of each others' posts. I have no reason to attack you personally. I didn't agree with a topic you posted about, and I put in my two cents. If you post something, it's up for debate. As when I post, or if anyone else posts.

I agree with 95 percent of the things that you post, and this is just one example of something that I don't agree with/relate to. Either stop taking things personally, or stop posting things that people will have differing opinions about.

i know we have never had issues before and have alot in common and agree alot.
and i realize things are up for debate.

i have admitted over and over again that i made a poor decision. HOWEVER, with that said, i feel as if you (and maybe 1 or 2 others) are making it out to be ALOT worse than what it actually is/was.
saying i "sideswapped" a car insinuates a horrendous accident imo. thats one thing.
another is saying i "drove drunk". i said that i had 4 drinks and a certain time period, waited 2.5 hours and then drove. i wasnt DRUNK, but i think i should have most definatly should have waited longer, or just opted for public transportation.
i have NEVER driven after having alchol before. never. and never will. its not like i was this wasted chick all over the place, i wasnt. i just think i should have waited longer.
but now i look like this horrible person and i am not. but when people make such horrible accusations, or use such strong words it brings everything into a different light.

I hear you. I will publicly say that you're not a bad person, nor do I think you're a drunk. I just think, based on things you posted earlier, that drinking and then driving (within a short time period after) is not using your brain and not the most intelligent thing to do. Never did I question your intelligence, I simply said to "educate yourself" on this topic. As far as the reference to "sideswiping" goes, I read it in an earlier post and mistinterpreted the original post. I took that back and acknowledged my misinterpretation.

I reacted to your posts in the manner that I did because this is a very sensitive issue for me. This really hits close to home, and it upsets me that people take it lightly. When you ask "how many drinks do you have before driving" it just tells me that we (as a society) are still not aware of the terrible effects of alcohol when driving/boating/etc. I answered NONE - I won't put a sip of anything in my mouth if I know that I need to be the designated driver. I thought this info was common sense, but based on what I'm reading, it's not.

You are not a terrible person, nor do I think you're some alchy who has issues. You are a fun, and outgoing girl with crazy style and an hysterical sense of humor. (not to mention you pups that are ALMOST as cute as mine)

Yes, your thread prompted my thoughts on posting things on LIF, and that made me want to see how others feel about posting risque things on LIF. You inspired me. It wasn't meant to be a direct and blatent attack on you. Just wanted to see who else out there doesn't mind posting controversial stuff on the internet.

Phew. Novel over. Truce.

i understand. i myself was victim of a drunk driving incident. (rear ended) and that is why if i knew i was driving i wouldnt have had anything to drink. (well, maybe one at 7:30 and then nothing but water)

at the time i thought i was making the best decision (having my friend NOT drive) but i realize now, that there didnt HAVE to be a "you or me" type of scenario. i should have taken a cab.

dumb. i acknowledge it was dumb. and i would never do it again. my situation is waht prompted me to ask how much ppl drink and then drive simply because i dont know what the "norm" is since i never do it. i was just curious and that is why i was honest about my situation.

you werent the one to first use the word "sideswipe". someone else said it first and thats why i wanted to put an end to the use of that word since it would probably only make others think that occured as well. (you know when youre skimming a thread certain words jump out at you). i just didnt want a ripple effect.

but i just want to have it end now. obviously easier said than done. its just upsetting to see sooo many people interpurting/percieving you as somethign youre not and scolding you over and over for it.

sorry if i took alot of offense to your posts.

posting risque things on LIF? Please tell me that you all realize that these threads never die and that you may be incriminating yourselves down the road.

Is anyone else aware of this?

My only real reply to this is, "wow, you have guts for posting this". Seriously. Why would you want your past (pot smoking habits, sex life, drinking escapades, etc) plastered all over the internet?

Maybe I'm crazy, or maybe just a big prude.

Is anyone with me? Chat Icon

ETA: Yes, this is only my opinion AND everyone is entitled to do what they wish, BUT, what is your reasoning behind posting these things? PSA? Educating others? I'm not really sure why someone would do this.

I have written stuff about my personal life about when i was a baby & that I had seizures, dh's cousin having lukemeia, etc... now i am going to have to be careful of what i write and say so things wont bite me in the arnse.I agree with you Ny teacher13 and now i realize i need to stop posting stuff like that. No you are not a prude or crazy you are just stating a fact and I thank you for Posting this.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I accept your apology Chat Icon. Honestly, Jes, people who know you will look past this, and there will still be others out there to judge. Keep your chin up (you have a thick skin Chat Icon) and just learn from the past. This, too, will pass.

Things I will not post:

Intimate details of my private life with DH.

and

Anything that any of my family members or personal friends would find offensive.

I will never comment on my family or DH's family. People lurk here. People have had lurkers ruin relationships. I dont need that so I do not provide fodder.

Re: Anyone else hesitant about

I try not to post anything really specific on here...where I live, my last name, where I work etc.....There are so many people on here and LIF and LIW are searchable on the internet.

I once did a search on my photographer when I had a webpage on LIW and the first hit was my LIW page...I took that right off

I am extremely careful about what I post. I have first hand experience of what could happen if the wrong eyeballs get wind about something posted. It happened to a girl I know, and the results are devistating.

The only thing I won't post is information about family members. I am somewhat open about things in my life. However, when it comes to family members, I am very careful what I say.

I'm only careful about what I say related to family - there are many lurkers on here and I have seen quite a few people have family problems over something they wrote as a vent or response.

Re: Anyone else hesitant about

I like to post about neutral topics and answer any questions girls may have that I know the answer to and vice versa. I think this site is a great source of information, support, and help on the topics I am most interested in (home, travel, etc.) This is the first place I go to when I want a review on a hotel, have a homeowning question, or I'm just bored at work. With that being said, I am just not into posting pics of myself, family, etc. I briefly kept my wedding pics up on LIW and then took them down when a stranger said she recognized me from LIW. For some reason, that freaked me out. So yes I'm hesitant about posting pics and as far as what I say I only say things that I wouldn't mind sharing with anyone, including strangers.

That's why I never respond to threads like, "What was your first car?"

Sounds like a fun thread until you realize that that's one of the "security" questions that comes up all the time for important and protected websites.

Same here.
