Re: half kidding/half not

The problem is some of them do not say "Sopranos" or at least one of them that I opened up.

Nah, there's more than one, and they are all worded like a generic hey look what I see kinda post. It's annoying, especially since I don't even watch the show.

exactly

i mean OK - if every one of those threads said sopranos in the title, then we have no right to b*tch because we have the choice to read or not

a bunch of them had very generic titles that didn't hint it was about the sopranos - then you click on it and boom - -sopranos

Re: half kidding/half not

Those that complain about repeat threads...one question for you.

Are you that busy in your hectic life that you can't just open the thread, realize you're not interested, and then close it??

Does it upset you so much that you feel the need to point out how pointless the thread is and make the poster feel inadequate??

I mean really. We are all WASTING TIME on a chat board. If I had more important, pressing things to do, I would be doing them. It's not up to me to be like "you can't post that, it's already posted" blah blah blah.

Who cares??!?!?!

because its like having a friend that tells you the same story over and over again....would you let that happen??

Why cant people look and see if something has been posted already??

IMO I think its rude to keep posting the same thing over and over again....

take a second to read and see if someone already "beat you to the punch" as they say!

So, in this case, someone wants to contribute something that they think is interesting. But first they must search through 10 posts, one of which is 12 pages long, just to make sure it hasn't been posted yet so the "board police" don't chase her down.

That would take at least 30 minutes for that one poster to do, compared to the 2 seconds it would take you to open and close the post.

Is that really fair??

the point is...there were 12 threads alone on the subject...all "you " would have to do is scroll down to see them....not searching through a thread 12 pages long...

thats what i am trying to say...

But if she is trying to contribute something that in her mind hasn't been posted yet, she would have to read thru all the posts.

And BTW, if one of my friends is telling me a story that I've already heard, I don't shoot them down and say "you already said that, I can't believe you are telling this again"Chat Icon . I either pretend I haven't heard the story (just not to interupt) or I politely say "I remember you told me that..." and continue with her train of thought. I don't start banging my head on a wall. well then you are a better person than me....because if a friend of mine is telling me a story for the 14th time...you would be sure i would tell her and ask her if she is losing her mind!!

So are you saying there is a limit of how much we can talk about one subject?? Obviously a lot of people are interested in the topic...thus the number of posts.

you're right, i'd say the same thing, but add a little bit at the end:

"I remember you told me that.....TWENTY TIMES BEFORE" Chat Icon

and i would never bang my head on the wall!! annoying friends' head? possibly.

If someone posts the exact same post twice, they are repeating themselves. If they are repeating something that someone else said on the 5th page of a 12 page post, I think it's harmelss. That's my point.

you keep posting so I am thinking you care
why is it that the same people who post "dont like it, don't read it" are the same people that don't follow it?

This argument is as old as both sites! I'll respect your stand if you can at least respect mine
