POLL: Which would you prefer to work for - a man or a woman?

Restructuring AGAIN in my company leaves me possibly working for a woman and I'm not happy about it. DH doesn't get why and I'm not sure I can put it into words.

Anyway, I was just curious if this is how other people feel as well.

Re: POLL: Which would you prefer to work for - a man or a woman?

I hate to say it ..

But I hate working for women ..

I have never had a positive experience working for a woman EVER... they have treated me horribly and been toxic in the workplace.

My one condition of moving to my new firm and working for 2 associates (along with my main boss) was that they HAD to be men

Of course, there are horrible male bosses as well but me and women just don't click Chat Icon

I hate working for women. I work for 2 women now ... they are big headed and power hungry ... they are soooo annoying and condesending.

Men are sooo much easier to work for

Re: POLL: Which would you prefer to work for - a man or a woman?

It's hard to explain to a man, I think, why a lot of women prefer working for men. They probably would assume the opposite.

I think it's that women feel that they have a lot to prove in the work field, being women. And there's always that added element of natural competition between women.

Please keep your fingers crossed that I either stay with my current boss or move to another man. I don't know that I'll stay here if I have to work for this woman Chat Icon

For me, I have no preference. One of the best bosses I had was a woman. My current boss (who is great) is a man. I think it depends on the person.

As a female boss, I have to tell you- its a lot harder. My old secretary- I saw the men in my office yell at her like crazy and she always smiled and apologized. I asked her to make changes on typos and she yelled back at me! (Hello! They ARE typos!! Its not subjective) I have to say, its much harder to be a woman in the workplace than a man.

I too am a female boss so it's sort of funny that I hate working for women so much. We actually had to let someone go because of her unbelievable attitude with me over asking her to do things that were *gasp* part of her job Chat Icon

But, it's the upper management women that I just do not like working for. Again, it's hard for me to put into words why... Which is apparently not helpful at all Chat Icon

I generally get along with men better than women, so I would rather work for a man. However,my current supervisors are all female and so far, they are great!

Re: POLL: Which would you prefer to work for - a man or a woman?

I think it is so sad- I would hate to think after all the work and training and education I've been through to become a manager that workes would disqualify me just b/c of my sex.

I've worked for men & women... I think we cannot generalize.

IMO- if the managers are bad, typically the company that hires them is bad. Most often bad management is symptomatic of dysfunction within a company.

Re: POLL: Which would you prefer to work for - a man or a woman?

I try not to disqualify anyone just because of their gender, but my experience has not been positive with any woman manager.

Men just seem to give you space to work and grow.

All the women managers I have known were always too busy making sure they look good and kept you down.

Maybe it's because women are all struggling be taken seriously and not 100% sure of their place in a "man's world" still --- I don't know if I believe that, but I think as you get to towards the top you have more to hold on to and much more to lose and soemtimes your underlings suffer for it.

Re: POLL: Which would you prefer to work for - a man or a woman?

With my female bosses (I've had two) they have always been competitive with me. With my first boss they were going to fire her and keep me, but I left because I didn't like it there anyway. My current boss is jealous of me getting a higher degree and then being able to move up in positions, when she kind of stagnated because she didn't go for a terminal degree.

My secretary also talks back and is a nightmare. I don't know if it's the age difference (I'm mid 20s and she's mid 60s...I get the feeling she doesn't like listening to what I ask her to do). But men generally just seem less catty. The women here, bosses included, spend a lot of time gossiping. Men seem more on task.
