The director of my dept
Just came to my desk to tell me once again that im not allowed to go into labor at work. He told me to start thinking about work i can do from home towards the end. He will arrange for me to have a laptop, and give me work to do. He also said he will talk to my immediate boss so she can start coming up with things for me too.
YAY...maybe the last few weeks wont be so bad if i can do some work from home.

Is he joking?!?! I mean, that's great if you can work from home, but telling you that you can't go into labor at work?!?!?!

You are not allowed to go into labor at work? Please tell me he is saying this "tongue in cheek" because he is nervous about what to do?
What is he going to do if your water breaks while you are at your desk?
Edited to add: Is this some kind of office policy? "No employee is permitted to go into labor while on the premises..."

I think he's saying it to mean that he doesn't want her to push herself too hard coming in to the office so instead, he'll facilitate her working at home so it's easier for her.
Which is so awesome!  For once, someone who's compassionate and generous as an employer!

Ummm...do you WANT to work from home at all??? That would be pretty presumptuous of him if you don't! If so, I think it's great they are willing to set you up. My company has done the same thing so I can do some stuff from home when I'm up to it after the baby is born.
