is there a list of a time line of things I should be doing..

Like at xx weeks I should have xx done...

I will be due right around the time SANTA arrives so I know I will be shopping early for everyones pressiesssssss!

It's funny, I asked this too when I first got pregnant and oddly they really don't exist!

I did find this Checklist , which isn't the most complete, but at least gives you a rough guideline. I was thinking of making my own for my friends when they become mommies...

Maybe we should all try to put one together?

I would appreciate it.. I have no clue.. Most of my friends are single maniac's so they have no idea.. and My mom had me 30 yrs ago so things changed...

I am only 16 weeks, so I have no idea what I am doing either! Maybe we can start to work from the list above.....

I would want to add:
scope out pediatricians (get recommendations from friends and colleagues)
check out your health insurance requirements
prerequisites for the hospital
look into getting a baby nurse/dualafor after the baby is born

did you register at Babycenter.com? Every week when they update your and the baby's development - they give you a "to do" for the week. Sometimes they are lame, but usually they are pretty good.

This list is very preliminary and being that I have no clue what I am talking about, please send any opther ideas and I will add them to this master list!

1st Trimester

• Start baby proofing your home, crawl around on the floor and look out for dangling cords, exposed outlets, sharp corners, stairs
• Begin visiting daycare centers, some of the best ones in your area may have waiting lists as long as your pregnancy
• Take well deserved naps while you can!
• Call your insurance company and find out all the necessary co-payments and fee schedules
• Your doctor should provide all hospital paperwork, call hospital if they don’t
• Try to work out as much as possible within reason. Ask your doctor what is allowed before you begin any regimen.

2nd Trimester

• Clean and organize your home to prepare for baby’s arrival
• Start getting recommendations and visiting pediatricians in your area
• Start browsing registry items to get an idea of what you will need
• Buy the book Baby Bargains, it is useful!
• Keep working out as it is found to be helpful with labor and delivery as well as postpartum.
• Start planning where baby’s nursery will be and how you want it to look. Check out paint colors and furniture.
• Order furniture once you find it, many times it is backordered for weeks.
• Sign up for birthing, infant care, CPR and other classes you want to take so you can make room in your schedule in advance
• Purchase some maternity clothes in larger sizes than you are, especially if you find it on sale. You may not want to be bothered finding clothes when you are further along and more uncomfortable.

3rd Trimester

• Finalize registry (early 3rd Trimester)
• Keep exercising!
• Pack hospital bag and tell DH where it is!
• Assemble and learn to use all items such as the car seat, monitor, stroller and thermometer. It will save lots of frustration later when baby is here.
• Wash all baby clothes with fragrance free detergent and organize by size
• Organize and find places for items received at shower. Place diapers and wipes near diaper station, etc.
• Purchase plenty of thank you cards for all the wonderful gifts you will receive after baby is born
• Install carseat CORRECTLY. Some police stations and firehouses are certified in installation.
• Make lists of anything you may need to remember, your brain will be in overload, don’t rely on remembering it all.
• Make emergency bags to keep in the trunks of all your cars, include diapers, wipes, canned dry formula, change of clothes, a blanket and anything else you use daily. (thanks Liza!)
• Purchase a baby log book to keep track of feedings, diaper changes, first smile, tooth, etc.
• Pamper yourself and relax a little because soon it’s not about you anymore!!!!!

No but there are things I would do slowly over time. Baby furniture for example can take 3-4 months to come in depending on who you use and where you buy. We got ours from behrs and ordered it in the end of jan. It only came in a little over a week ago.

You can start registering a little bit at a time so it is not overwhelming - if you do it slowly over time we worked on ours from about week 13 until week 23.

Eventually you will want to pick a ped. but you don't interview them usually around 30-36 weeks.

Lamaze classes you probably want to take between 26 and 30 something weeks if you want to take one.

Have you checked with your hospital for a list? I got a great book from mine that has everything broken down week by week and a bunch of lists inside. There are also some good ones on amazon. I have the 40 Weeks +: The Essential Pregnancy Organizer (Spiral-bound) and love it!! Great lists inside!! I highly recommend it.
