How do you get GD
Is it from sugar because I only eat ice pops, juice, muffins...i am having a hard time eating anything else.

It doesn't have to do with eating too much sugar.

I've eaten 20,000 pounds of sugar since getting pregnant and didn't get GD. Logic does not apply to pregnancy.

Pregnancy hormones! Doesn't happen to everyone. I had GD. Insulin is made by the pancreas, and the hormones block the production of insulin. Insulin is needed to break down carbs. So anything with sugars or carbs (and sometimes fatty foods) that cannot be broken down by the lack of insulin causes your blood sugar to go up. It's not just eating sugary stuff, it's anything with a high carb - even fruit - that those with GD have to be very careful about. I very rarely ate anything that had extra sugar in it, I had only "good" carbs (fruit, sweet potatoes, whole wheat bread) and "quick oats" oatmeal (different from "instant oatmeal") and proteins and veggies which mostly are carb free.
I probably gave you way too much info but I reasearched it tons when I had it.
