Any lawyers around right now?
Background: my parents own a six-family apartment building, and received a registered letter today.
The letter is for one of their past tenants, and it's a
"subpoena with Restrainging notice"
Through reading through it, it appears that some type of company (plantiff) had a judgement in their favor against my parents old tenant.
The letter then states that they "COMMAND" us to answer in writing under oath, separately and fully, the questionnarie that accompanies this.
The thing is, my parents haven't the slightest idea how they receive this, especially since it was sent to our home address (we do not reside in the building where this tenant used to live.)
My mom was more pizzed off that she had to wait 1.5 hrs in line at the post office to pick this up.
Do my parents have to fill this out?

Re: Any lawyers around right now?
I'm not an atty but my family owns a process service which delivers and mails summonses, subpoenas and these type of things.
Did the actual subpoena have your parents name on it at all? Was it just mailed to your parents address with the tenants name? It could have been mailed to your parents by mistake...because the tenant coudlnt be found and your parents address was linked to them some how.
There should be the name of the plaintiffs attorney on the document and you can call them and let them know that the tenant no longer rents from your parents and the supoena ended up at the wrong address.

Re: Any lawyers around right now?
Thanks so much. I just read through it.
It states something along the lines of "if you have further information, please let us know."
I guess they know the guy is "missing" and are doing whatever they can to find him.
