Can I vent?
I go today for my 17.5 week appointment. My doctor adamantly will not do a Level 2 before 20 weeks. The next 2 in-office Level 2 appointments are June 19 and July 2nd. Unfortunately, I will only be 19w4d on June 19th and they won't do it. Will not budge at all. I even explained that my students (6th & 7th graders) are dying to know. No dice.
I am so bummed - I know so many people find out before 20 weeks!!!!
I am trying to put it in perspective - not the end of the world!
I guess I'm just looking for hugs!

That sucks that they won't even do it a couple days sooner. I don't see the reasoning behind that. How different can it be in three days?

I just made my appt. at Beth Israel. They prefer to do it at 20 wks., but if I wasn't able to work that out, they probably would have done it 19 wks. My genetic counselor said 18 is the earliest to do this.
If they really won't budge, does your class have a website? I know some teachers do these, you could let them know that way.

he's prob trying to avoid billing insurance for more than 1. i went at 19 1/2 weeks and they were unable to get one of the images they needed so i have to go back this week again. i know its disappointing. the important thing is that the baby is healthy

My OB wouldn't do the Level 2 before 20 weeks either...I go this Fri and I will be 20w5d. I know it is a little annoying, but it's not worth being upset about- it will be here before you know it!

sorry ur going through this. the bright side is that he isn't worried much about the baby's health, or lack thereof b/c if he was he would have sent you in sooner, as in my case. Good luck with the upcoming appts. Hope ur baby cooperates with you!

Honestly, I think your dr. maybe doing it for your own good. My dr. had the same policy and he said it was because they are measuring everything and making sure the baby is growing right and being at 20 wks assures the most accurate measurements to make sure your baby is ok.
