Today Show...
I cut and pasted this from my Myspace Blog guys, so forgive me. It's got all the details, so what the heck? 
About two weeks ago, my girlfriend Jamelle approached me and wanted to see what my interest would be concerning an opportunity to work with the Today Show on a segment they were doing on divorced/stb divorced women and the financial impact the divorce is having on their lives. Thinking they would just use my information statistically, I said sure. Her SIL, Donna, was the producer for the show and gave me a call. Within two days, they had it all set up where they would come to my home and do a feature on me; videotape me at home, etc. They would also be bringing me into the city to do a makeover and appear live on the program! Talk about opportunity!! As a curteosy to my STBX husband, I told him about the program and that they would be filming at the house. He basically went through the roof and "forbid" me to be on the show, along w/a host of other threats including filing for full custody, etc. Too bad the camera's weren't rolling for that! He also said that I was "crazy/mentally ill" for wanting to take up such an opportunity. Hmmmnnn, funny how EVERYONE else thought it was a great chance I was being given.
The day of the filming, I was very nervous. A two man crew, along w/Donna came to the house. They made me feel very comfortable and made me laugh during some very emotional moments during the filming process. The questions were very tasteful (no Jerry Springer action here) and my answers were always diplomatic and sensitive to my situation and my STBX's feelings. They set me up for a hair makeover at the Ted Gibson Salon in NYC for the following weekend.
The day I got my hair 'did', the show sent a car for me. The employees of the salon were fabulous and little did I know, I was in one of the top five salons in NYC. My hairdresser Ray and my colorist (I can't recall her name but she was awesome) made me feel totally at home. There was no aire of pretentiousness, even though cuts in that facility normally run in the $300-$400 range. Wow, what a differerence over Lemon Tree LOL!!!
The following Tuesday, a car was sent to my job to pick me up for my fashion makeover. My Fashion Coordinator, Eric, was again one of the top in the country and was currently working for NBC. Everything they had picked up for me (based on my measurements) was too big (Whoo-hoo!) and they had to do some last minute running around and alterations of my clothes. They came up with a great outfit choice for the show and I went home very happy. Every day in the process seemed just a little bit cooler than the last (I was changing in the warddrobe closet of the SNL cast and their names appeared on their cubbies). However, the best was yet to come. During that visit, Donna informed me that I would be appearing on the same day as the two finanists in the American Idol contest! Holy cow!!
The night before the show, I decided to stay at my Mother's because A.) I did not want my STBX to find out that I was doing the show that day and B.) The car was coming super early and John was going to be going w/me. They picked us up at Mom's around 6:00 a..m. and when we got there, Jordan Sparks was practicing outside of the studio. I was whisked off for hair/makeup and was filled in on the sequence of events. After they were done dressing me up, we went across the street to the Satellite Studio, where we got a front row view of Jordan/Blake's performance. We were snuck outside so that we could get a camera op with the two. Unfortuantely, Jordan was tied up with security but we did get to meet Blake and he was very cool and down to earth. Honestly, I wanted to meet him more than Jordan anyway LOL!
We were once again brought to the Green Room. John was told that he would have to stay down there while I was in the studio. Little did we know, the USA Woman's Gymnast coast was in there with us! There was so much going on and so much exciting stuff happening, we couldn't keep track of everything at once. They brought me upstairs and Al Roker was performing the interview. I remember when I saw the taped segment run. I kept trying to pay attention to it (it was my 1st time seeing it) AND pay attention to the camera man telling us how many seconds it was till live air. I sort of felt like a dear in the headlights as the show started and I remember feeling pretty comfortable with the ladies who were helping me (Suze and Gail). After the show went off, I spent another 30 or so minutes talking with them candidly about my situation and they gave me some excellent advice. I remember when I came downstairs, how proud John looked of me and how incredibly happy I was. I felt like it was the best day on earth! John and I got to spend some time wandering around the city and he even bought some "future" item for me; I'm not at liberty to share that one boys and girls (at least at this point), but let me tell you, this man is incredible. I truly believe he would do anything to make me happy and his committment to Amber and myself is 100% real. I absolutely love him with all of my heart and know at the bottom of my soul that he is the one for me. I was soo happy he was there for me and supported me throughout the whole thing. I think it was good that you shared your story with others b/c I'm sure their are other women in your sitution that might not know what to do.

Sharon, you're an amazing woman. I can think of the many times we talked about the situation you were in with STBX and how you seem so much happier now, and so much better off and you look AMAZING. I haven't seen you in person in a few years (too long!) but you have a new glow about you.

I saw the segment online at MSNBC. First of all you look great with your hair and your clothes and weight loss. Second of all I wish you luck on your journey. Third of all, your house looks familar, it looks like the houses from the town I grew up in.
