My Birth Story (quite long!!!)
Before I begin, I just want to say a big thank you to you ladies for everything for the past 9 months. Everytime I had a question, I knew I could find the answer on here.
So anyway, my due date was Tuesday, May 22, and on Monday, I was feeling "different" but would not tell anyone because I thought I would jinx it  So then on Tuesday, I woke up having contractions and finally around 10:20 decided to start timing them. I called my husband, but told him to stay at work, because it probably wasnt it.
So I time them for an hour. They are anywhere between 2 and 4 minutes apart, and 30 seconds to a minute and 20 seconds long. I called my husband, and told him I am going to call the dr, but I didnt think it was it (I really didnt want to jinx it.) So I call the dr at 11:30, and he tells me to go to the hospital.
We finally got to the hospital (Southside) at 1:30 (We tried to get the car washed on our way, but it was too long of a wait!!). They tell me I am 3cm and completely effaced and having very good contractions. The nurse was like "This is it" I had been waiting so long to hear those words.
So anyway, we are in the birthing room, and had so much company in there. A couple of hours later, they check me, and I am still 3 cm. So the dr comes in and breaks my water and starts pitocin. This is at 6:30 I am still fine, visitors come back in. All of a sudden, I looked at my mom and told her that everyone had to leave. The contractions became so much more intense, that I asked for the epi. At this point I was 6 cm. It took me less than an hour to jump from 3 to 6. So I get the epi in 30 minutes because the contractions were rolling into each other and they were afraid that I would dilate too much and miss my window. It was clear sailing from there. I told the epi man that he was my favorite person in the hospital.
So around 9:40 the dr comes in and tells me that I can start pushing. The nurse said to me, oh I hope you have this baby by 12, theres a possibility that you can (May 22nd is my grandfathers b-day, so we all really wanted him born on that day) I thought she was crazy that she "wasn't sure" if I would have him by 12. That was 2 1/2 hours away.
So anyway, I started pushing, and less than half an hour later, at 10:19 PM our little boy joined the world. It was the best experience I have ever had. He was 8lbs 5oz and 20 1/2 inches and absolutely beautiful and alert.
So after all of my family came in to see him (there were 26 people in the waiting room and ALL of them were allowed to come in to see us) we went upstairs to my room. I asked the nurse if we could see Derek in the nursery, and as we are walking, she said that she never had a mother walk to the nursery right after giving birth. And every nurse that we passed, she told them "She's the mom". It was funny.
So anyway ladies, this was the best experience of my life. I truly had an amazing, amazing labor and delivery. I would do it all again in a heartbeat. I have been up and moving around since I gave birth, and I feel great. The ladies who are delivering at Southside, count your blessings because they are all amazing.

OMG, GREAT story, so glad you had such a great birth experience, sounds pretty by the book. I dream of that. Have fun with your little angel.!

Not only was it a wonderful birth story but being one of the 27 people there she looked amazing when I saw her 20 minutes after she delivered and he was absolutely beautiful and so alert!!!!
