Last night was better...

I've ruled out any kind of physical/medical ailment, because yesterday she came home and was in a GREAT mood. We played outside for a couple of hours with her neighbors, came inside, ate dinner, and she went to sleep quite easily, though she was a little clingy when I went to put her in her crib.

She did wake up at 12:45 and cried, loudly, for 5-10 minutes, but fell back asleep. When she's woken up in the night before because of teething or an earache, she'll cry out boooobooo, and she didn't do that last night, so I'm really starting to think she's just going through some kind of phase. Perhaps she's about to reach a new milestone, or she's just in the mood to test her limits with mommy and daddy this week... who knows. What I do know is when 4:30 comes around and I have to catch my train, I'm actually FEARFUL to go home to see what kind of mood she's in! Chat Icon

Re: Last night was better...

Jeez, do we have the same kid?????? Bryan too was in a great mood yesterday when I picked him up from daycare, minimal screaming in the car and he ate all his dinner. He went down great and only cried once last night- before I could even get to the door he stopped. Im not sure what has been going on either but Im hoping that he was just going thru a phase. Anyhow, Dh and i decided that we must not let him get the better of us and we must be frim and consistent and not give in to his tantrums. Plus we have to be united when it comes to discipline so that Bryan cannot play us to his advantage- which is what he was doing at the mere age of 23 months Chat Icon Chat Icon

I think so! Like you said, Alex has always been difficult... ur... "spirited" is the more PC term, right? DH and I argue a lot about our different parenting styles - he's the disciplinarian/enforcer, I'm the mush. I'm starting to see that he's right - she really is at the stage where she's crying and acting out not because she needs something, but because she's testing her boundaries. Even last night, when she woke up at 12:45am, after 5 minutes, I wanted to go in there and give her motrin. DH turned to me and said, NO, she doesn't have an earache or toothache, otherwise she would have cried out booboo - let her fall back asleep. It killed me, but I relented, and she fell back asleep within 5 minutes and slept through until 7am.

I think it's just a stage. A difficult one, but hopefully it won't last toooooooo long!
