spinoff to HPV tests
What else does the gyno test for? Do you have to request it?

i asked my gyno to test me for it. If I remember correctlly they tested it when I got my pap smear.

I just got one- since I turned 30- my GYN says they test for it at that age
my insurance company isn't covering it- I just got a bill for $100

I was diagnosed with HPV in 2001 and I never asked for a test. It was part of my routine pap.

my insurance covered it - I had it done twice, under 2 insurances - Oxford and HIP.

After 30, it is now routine to test for HPV with your annual pap.

Not STDs if that's what you want to know. While the pap can detect abnormalities that may lead the gyn to test for other things, if you want to be tested for anything other than HPV, cervical cancer, you have to ask.
My gyn uses thin pap prep, which tests for HPV.

My midwife automatically tested me for HPV, she said it's included in the pap. Insurance covered it.
Pap looks for any abnormalities/changes within your cervix.

bumping b/c I wanted to let you all that I called- and the reason they didn't pay is b/c it was 3 days before I turned 30- I am trying to get them to reconsider
anything with in a week of your birthday should be a no brainer IMO
