Keep in mind that cell phones could interfere with other patients monitors and such (or at least that is what they told me when I worked in a hospital) so they might be strict about using the cell.
That theory has been disproven although I still wouldn't pull out my cell right in front of life saving equipment. Some nurses are still very anal about it but I could care less, they don't pay me enough to be cell phone security as well. The only time I say something is if someone is being loud and obnoxious on their phone in the hallway or something. Then I say something because it's just down right rude.

I delivered at Good Sam and they told me I could use my cell phone. I still got the phone in the room so people could call me. I used my cell to call people and tell them to call me back in my room!
