Heartburn
Help! I am 24 weeks pg and am having heartburn ALL the time suddenly. The past week or so I feel like I am popping Tums like crazy!
This is my 3rd pregnancy, my first , I have 2 boys, and I NEVER had this with my other pregnancies.
Anyone have any tips for alleviating this?

Re: Heartburn
My dr. said to take either Zantac or Pepsid about 30 minutes before eating.

Re: Heartburn
talk to your dr. i had to change my diet at about this stage. my heartburn got so bad i was vomiting...eliminated ALL dairy, italian/mexican/spicy foods, greasy/fried foods. if i eat the slightest amount of any of these foods, i get heartburn within minutes.
also try peppermint gum...it HELPS.

Re: Heartburn
I am barely eating anything as it is. Everything gives me heartburn. I have an appointment tomorrow night, and I plan on mentioning it to him.
Thanks for the information! This just stinks!

Re: Heartburn
Mine is starting to come back very bad. My doc told me Pepcid Maximum Strength was okay but even that isn't working anymore. This sounds crazy but I am convinced that Honey Bunches of Oats brings it on!

I had to eliminate (on my own) orange juice...which was my calcium source since I am allergic to milk in the first place. Oddly, I can drink red grapefruit juice and they make it WITH calcium! It's odd what can make you sick when pregnant!

Re: Heartburn
For lunch today I had grilled cheese, and was on FIRE afterwards. Bland foods, spicy foods, it does not seem to matter.
This is just weird for me because I have never had heartburn before during a pregnancy (and both my boys were born with full heads of hair, so there goes that theory). I am convinced it has something to do with all the extra estrogen this time

ooh...could be the dairy! plus grilled cheese is kind of greasy. as soon as i told my dr. my symptoms, she told me to stop eating the foods i mentioned above...my problems originated from baked ziti one night so for me it was a little more obvious. let's just say i am anxious to give birth now so i can eat some tomato sauce!

Re: Heartburn
I lived on Ovaltine and Tums. Water was bad, seltzer was a little better. I am sorry, I know its terrible.
I slept sitting up and that helped.
