3D-4D contraversy with my mom
My mom has been researching this and found that these sonos are not done by a dr. she foudn instanced of the sono done incorrectly and the baby can be harmed. have you heard of this...i would really like for a dr to do it......now im second guessing it??? do the dr's reccomebd it?

My doctor did not recommend it...but I still did it. It is done by a technician not a doctor. I did go to a reputable place.

I think what she is referring to -is that there are some articles that say you shouldn't do them for recreation. I think the articles say that they don't regulate the non medical machines as they do with a regular radiology place - but I can't vouch for that - I think I read that somewhere. In general you don't want to do more sonos than you really need to. If you are concerned why don't you discuss this issue with your doctor who will probably say no reason to worry and then you can feel more conformtable but if not you can hear what your OB's reasoning is to not have it.

The sex of the baby was also a surprise, I was so scared of seeing something anyway.

My Dr will not do this unless there is reason to -- i.e., some problems that need to be investigated.
I have no interest - baby has been subjected to enough poking and prodding IMO.

I agree and us too. They still have no clue what kind of effects sono's have on a developing baby, which is the reason why we don't get that many.
I am not even getting a 32 week one this time since I am not considered high risk this time around..
I skipped paying for an extra sono with both pg's, I wanted what she looked like to be a surprise since we found out the sex.
But that's just us.

my mom said something about if they accidently bounce the sound of the spinal cord it can do damage....

I did a 3 D sono and my doc just had to send over my last sono report. I haven't had many sono's this pregnancy b/c i am not high risk or anything. My next one is at 35 weeks. And then i dotn think there will be anymore after that. All in all i think i have had 4 regular sonos one 3-d sono. I dotn think there is any proven medical problems. Also many girls here have done the 3-D and their babies are perfectly healthy.
