Disability vent

So today I find out that starting this year the company changed the policy. They no longer give 100% salary when you go on ML. They now give 66.6% only!! What kind of crap is that??? I have no idea what I'm going to do. I'll have to go back to work a week after delivery if I can't figure something out. I hate this job & company!! Anyone else not get 100%?

I guess every place is different. I know they used to give 100% so that's what I was expecting. It really hit me hard when I was told otherwise. I was depending on that 100% so now I have to make alternate plans.

I get $170 a WEEK from NYS disability( BEFORE TAXES!) . 66% would have been a fortune to me.

When have been barely making it for months b/c I have been out on disability since Jan.

Majority of companies do not supplement the NYS dbl. Many offer AFLAC as an STD supplement......

The state DBL is very low and NY needs to get with the times.... NJ and CT's caps are in the $400's.......

I am very fortunate, my co gives me 100% for 8 weeks, then another 18 at 60% for being disabled...... I have been on bedrest as well so I am now moving into the 60% and currently, Im the breadwinner....I do not know how it is possible to live on LI with one salary!!!

NY stinks!!! And my company is based out of NJ so go figure. Their reasoning is that they want to save money yet they'll pay for my boss to take out some of his friends to a Yankee game!!!We go through so much as women being pregnant & giving birth...we should get more!!! We should get 6 months leave with full pay!!

I am self employed and my policy does not cover the owner of the company. I will be getting paid only because there is often a backlog of money owed to me and the money can come in while I am out, then I can take it as salary.

I thought that most people get the 2/3 pay and then if people want to pro-rate their sick time, they can get paid that way (the company covers 1/3 but for every day you are out you use 1/3 of a sick day.)

i would be doing cartwheels if i was getting 66% for my time out - my company has a great policy - 2 weeks paid for every 2 years you've worked with the company - i was thrilled... ive been here for 10 years - 10 weeks paid maternity - woohoo - right?

WRONG - next sentence -- with the maximum of two weeks off!!

*** - why not just say 2 weeks if you've worked here two years...

so i wll be taking me meeasly 2 weeks paid - using my vacation days - and then just disability and getting my tookus back to work

Add me to the list. I have been on bedrest sicne 8 weeks pregnant. I got paid for 10 weeks from my company minus the 170.00 from NYS. Now I am on just NYS for the rest of my pregnancy....just 16 weeks to go grrr I luckily chose to pay for supplemental LTD so I'll get 8 weeks LTD pay when on maternity leave since I am having a C-section. The rest will be child bonding and my vacation days.
Our savings will be put through the ringer and its stressful enough that I sometimes throw up just thinking baout it.

My company pays 100% for the first 4 weeks and then the other 2 or 4 weeks (depending on what type of birth) is is based on how long you have been with the company. And you have to use a certain amt of vacation days as part of your maternity leave.

i dont get any maternity leave pay. Just the NY State disability and Aflac.. And i thought aflac would pay me for 3 months cuz that is the benefit period i'm paying for..No, they only pay 6 weeks for natural birth, the same as crappy NY State!

So, do you get the 66% maternity leave plus disability?

in fl you don't get any subsidy from the gov't - u have to buy into a short term disability plan and they only offer so much $ for 6 wks. I bought into the highest plan thinkng that i'd get 1800 every 2 wks---nope, 1800 for six weeks and i have to use all of my sick leave before I go out on maternity. we didn't have aflac option before and its too late now b/c its a previous condition. needless to say, I'll be back at work...which really su cks!
