I started around 32 weeks, finished by 34 weeks.

It's never too early to make a list. That's what I did. At about 37 weeks I started putting things that I definitely didn't need around on the list into the bag. by 39 weeks - I put in everything else. I figured that if I went early - I would have the list ready and DH or I could go around gathering things before we went to the hospital and in an extremem emergency - DH could go home and get things later.
