Let me also ask a question - Is it possible that Desmond isnt the guy at the beginning of the show in the hatch? The guy at the beginning of the show was showered and clean and Desomond had a scraggly beard and was dirty...I dont think Desmond lives in the hatch, but possibly he was on the plane with jack as one of the survivors - maybe he was sitting in the back of the plane...Maybe he was on his way to the race around the world he was practicing for at the beginning....when he saw Jack in the stadium.
The other thing that is on my mind is that time when the woman who becomes jacks wife is in the hospital...Did you get a glimpse of the guy she had the accident with? He looked like Locke. Is it possible that it was locke, and that he wasnt dead....but he was paralyzed. Maybe when the plane crashed and Locke wiggled his toes and stood up from the wheel chair it had something to do with Desmond....Maybe Desmond has som powers...Maybe he is god or the devil.....I dunno....
And when the blond saw Walt - was he wet or was there some sort of gooey stuff on him?

Scott - you could be right about Desmond (who we see holding the gun to Locke's head at the end of the epi) may not in fact be the same guy we see at the very beginning of the epi... but I guess that remains to be seen
ALso perhaps you are right, Desmnd was on the plane with Jack, but again we're just speculating
As for your theory about the man who was in the other car involved in the accident that brought Jack's exwife to the hospital.. when Jack's ex regained conciousness, she asked about the "man in the other car" I thought Jack said he had died ?
NO idea what was all over Walt, I thought it was water

Really? I didnt think it was obvious. I thought it just concluded what Jacks dad was telling him about giving patients hope and not being so down all the time.

The code word I found doing a search....on the web.
Maybe Locke was pronounced dead but after that happened was revived and they didnt show it

I think the guy who died in the car crash was Shannons father. We all know so far a lot of them have father issues and one of the nurses or doctor say Mr. Rutherford and Shannons last name is Rutherford.
Would not make sense to be Locke since he would be dead and not paralyzed.
Also see all the references to the numbers last night.....they were on the gun that the guy injects himself with and the time of death of Mr. Rutherford was 8:15.
Also i didn't get a chance to read through this whole thread but when the guy got up in the morning he was on top of a bunk bed.....means he does not live alone....could his roommate been Evil Ethan???

I konw that on the Lost chattheory boards (similar to the site Scott posted) they give you the full names of all the characters... I never EVER would have noticed the last names of Shannon, etc. I know Jack's last name is Shepard and of course Locke is John Locke but that's about it

Me and my husband watch everything very closely and compare ideas and things we each saw afterwards. Geeky but we have so much fun with this show.
Also we noticed when the guy goes to his closet that there were 4 shirts hanging up and everything is pre 80's stuff in his p.ace from the music, to the record player.
Also on his wall in his room is the word "sick" wih an eyeball and the letter M.....reads out to be I am sick.
TiVo helps a lot too!

WOw you guys are really observant too!
The only thing I picked up on is the fact that everything was very pre-80s in the hatch.. but that was so obvious
I also wonder about the quarantine on the hatch, that's gotta figure into this soon.. but that also leads you back to the fact that desmond said he was a doctor

Locke - Is a famous astronomer i believe
Sheppard - After the famous astronaut Alan Sheppard
Walt - Walt Disney
Ethan Rom - ROM is a computer program
Hugo - Victor Hugo - Les Mesribles
Sawyer - Tom Sawyer
The French Ladies last name is the same as a famous explorer i think

Looks like everything is 70's or 80's
The music was 70's
the computer was an apple from the 80's
There was a washer and Dryer in the back ground that looked newer....
What was up with all the light in the windows?? I was thinking it had to be some sort of artifical light to help out the people from going crazy that worked in the underground facility...

ETA: Now thinking about it- it could not have been that long ago when Jack was treating his wife and met the guy while running- what- max 20 years. Everything in the hatch to seemed to be older- like in the 70's. So maybe it was someone else in the hatch. But then again, why make the whole scene with Desmond in the stadium. Ahhh-- these people are geniuses. With every answer, there are more questions.
