Need some advice

So I don't know if I'm just over-anxious over the fact that our Level II is tomorrow, but I've been feeling kind of down lately...I feel like I'm not going to be ready for the baby, like I'm not going to do the righ thing...I mean don't get me wrong I am overly excited to have a baby and being a mom, but I think the closer it gets the more scared I get...I'm even scared to register...it seems so overwhelming!

I hope that by tomorrow, when we find out what it is I'll slowly snap out of this mood...

I think all of us feel that way... hey I am 34 weeks and it is still not sinking in that I will be a mom next month... I think once I am done working and start preparing for his arrival, it will hit me... you will be a great mom Chat Icon

Re: Need some advice

I think everyone worries. Even after my water broke, I remember thinking, "I'm not ready".

Your life will change & that's scary for anyone. We're all winging motherhood. It's definitely a learning process.

Re: Need some advice

I go through times like this but it passes. You wouldn't be pregnant if you weren't meant to be a mom!!

If you want to see my registry to compare I'd be happy to share it. I just finished it, and I was lucky I had my sister to help me. It was really stressing me out but now I think I'm good.

Don't worry, your anxiety alone says you'll be a great mom, because its obvious how much you care already!

Re: Need some advice

I feel nervous like this sometimes too - it is so overwhelming when you are doing it for the first time especially when you don't have that many close friends with kids Chat Icon

I found just getting into it - starting to register, reading ALOT of books, asking questions on these boards and talking to family members and friends with kids was all VERY helpful Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Need some advice

DH and I still worry that we won't know what to do or we will do the wrong things. I am expecting the hospital to stop me at the door and say that there is no way they can let ME take him home.

I think back to my level II and I remember it all feeling like a dream still - not quite real but you see that baby - really for the first time you see all these parts and it's no longer just a blob on the screen - it's your baby. Then over the next few weeks you start to feel the baby more and more and I, for me, something just clicked. All of a sudden the fear is replaced by excitment and anticipation. You take some classes, watch videos and talk with people and you start to prepare. It works out.

Girls, thank you so much for your reassuring words...I do have a few friends that have had babies and their kids are growing up already...I know I have the support of my family and friends, but still sometimes it is still scary...I guess I will just have to grab the bull by its horns and get used to it all...

Re: Need some advice

i guess its normal to feel this way. i go through this too... alot of the time, i don't think it has fully hit me that i am REALLY pregnant and we are going to have a baby. I feel like i'm looking in on someone else's life. Me - am I really having a baby??? I feel better and more mushy when i actually see the baby in a sono. My doc doesn't know it yet but i am SO getting another sono after my level 2... Chat Icon I'm sure once the baby is here you will be just fine and luckily we have lots of support here.

My grandmother who had 8 children always said mothers worry from the moment they discover they are pregnant and that never stops
