Spinoff to washing baby clothes...
You can't use bleach right? I already use dye free detergent because of our sensitive skin.
Also, why is fabric softener not allowed? Is dye free ok? We use that already too.

I believe that fabric softener is off limits because it affects the flame resistance of most baby clothes...also probably for it's chemical agents in and of themselves.

fabric softener: apparently lowers or cancels out the flame retardants.
bleach: not a great idea in all honesty for anyone's clothes...bad for fabrics. (and it stinks...you can always smell what's been bleached) really, if you are washing them, the germs are coming out.
to be honest, i have used fabric softener and dryer sheets on all my baby stuff. I don't plan on lighting my baby on fire. joking aside, more out of habit than anything...after I did it I realized I hadn't meant to. oops!

if you just keep the whites sep. they should hold up pretty well on their own. i do use oxy clean [and there's a "free" version] with our clothes as well, that might help. i've occasionally washed a white shirt with the jeans and just rewashed it and it comes out white and bright again!

I agree with baby Oxy. We have been trying it out on some of our stuff & it works pretty well.
I am avoiding fabric softener, but I did get the *dryer balls* (hehehehe) to soften certain fabrics & keep plush items from bunching.
