Do you have a walker and an exercauser?

I didn't register for a walker - should I go and get one now? Aren't they really the same things?

Do I need both?

I have heard that walkers are actually dangeros and not to get one.

They still make walkers? I thought they all didn't have wheels.

I didn't register for one either....figured I could get one later on.

I have both I put her in the exersaucer when I need her to entertain herself for a little while. When she's in the walker I keep a close eye on her even though I don't have stairs she can move quickly in it. I've also used the walker in the backyard.

Re: Do you have a walker and an exercauser?

I just saw a post on Parenting about Walkers which is why I posted this. I heard they were dangerous too. I think I'll just stick with the exercauser!

We just got the FP rain forest jumperoo - Baby bargains and other things I read said that walkers were banned in canada b/c they are dangerous and that they lead to a lot of accidents even with close supervision. I think I also saw that they can delay walking.

I dont agree with this.
Our patrents used walkers all the time.
I read that is is back for the legs, so how is juming up and down on a jumeroo safe for a baby's legs too??

I don't think the jumpero is perfect either - They lump walkers, excercausers and jumperoos all in the category of can delay walking something to do with not being able to see their legs. But I think the idea behind the walkers is that the baby uses it to walk and can sometimes become used to it making it harder to walk unassisted.

I think the largest problem with them are the accidents. I personally am not comfortable with them - I did not have them growing up and so I feel that they are not right for me - I see nothing wrong if someone else wants to use them or disagrees with my opinion on this. What I originally posted however came from Baby bargains and not from my personal beliefs.

Re: Do you have a walker and an exercauser?

I had a Jumperoo and have a mini miestero walker. The walker has locks on them and I would use it as an excesaucer. I do know that some excesaucers turn into push walker (they walk behind it). I am not really a fan of walkers and even though I have one their is really no where for him to go (which you know). My inlaws and parents both have a walker for him and I get nervous putting him in their because their is alot of open space and he flys not to mention he is too tall for it so I only let him stay in for a little and try and confine him to area where he can't move much or put food on his tray and that will keep him still.

Our parents also put us to sleep on our stomachs and drank and smoked while they were pregnant with us.

They find out new things all the time.

I think the big risk with walkers is tumbling down steps, etc. But I have read studies about how they can injure the child's spine too if they have the wrong support.
