What to do about being a BM in a wedding?

I will be about 4 1/2 months pregnant at my cousins wedding. The dresses are already ordered. Do you think it makes more sense to call them and have them try to get me a larger size and have them take it in if they have to, or to just keep the same size and have them figure out how to alter it? Her wedding isnt until August. Thanks!

You need a bigger size for them to work with... they can always take it in, but they can't add fabric!!

def order bigger. im in bridal party in July we ordered the dress when i was only 6 weeks and a size 6. the dress is not maternity and cut in the waist. due to the bust measurement and allowing for "extra" since i will be 26 weeks pregnant at the wedding they ordered a size 18 Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

This is a tough call.

Sometimes they order extra fabric for you so they make a panel but it has to be ordered at the same time as the dress so the swatch match the dress. That's what one of my co-worker is doing right now. She will be 7 months PG at a wedding.

You might want to order the dress in a bigger size too if it's not too late. Sometimes they are just PITA with that.

I ordered my dress really big and they took it in, well, they had to take it out. Lcukily there were seems that they were able to make larger. I wanted it to be a little looser and be more comfortable

Re: What to do about being a BM in a wedding?

I was a BM in March and had ordered the dress before I knew I was pg. I was 5 months in March. Luckily, they had ordered me a size bigger in the 12...... Had I know I was PG, I would've ordered 2 sizes bigger. I lucked out that I was carrying small and the 12 fit me- it was an A line. My big boobs are oozing out of the dress, but it was all good.

Depending on the style/cut of the dress (mine was A-line) I'd say order 2 sizes bigger than you are Chat Icon

Re: What to do about being a BM in a wedding?

I was in a wedding last month (I was 7 mos pregnant). They ordered me a bigger size and then took it in...a lot! Chat Icon When I got married in November, my MOH found out she was pregnant after the dresses were ordered (she was almost 5 mos pregnant by my wedding). They ordered extra fabric and were able to alter it that way. Alot of the time, it will depend on the cut of the dress. For my wedding, the BM dresses were halter top with a slight a-line skirt so it was feasible to alter it. For the wedding I was in last month, the dress couldn't be altered with additional fabric because of the style. I would call the bridal shop, explain the situation, and let them advise you on what to do. The last thing you want is to be uncomfortable. Chat Icon
