i try to buy the " no squirrel" seed, it has something in it they don't like. the grackles are hard to keep away though.

Squirrels hate pepper or anything spicy as they have taste buds. Birds don't.
My father has a horrendous time with squirrels, so he bought the circular domes to put on his bird feeders that keep the squirrels at bay and he keeps the feeders out of jumping distance from the squirrels, so they are forced to forage and more birds stay at the feeder.

a medium sized black bird, when the sun hits their feathers they look green/purple. the look like small crows. very common LI bird
