UPDATE & PIC 5/16 - Hershey got her stitches out!
Hi Everyone, thank you so much for the feedback.
I actually ended up bringing Hershey to Dr. Noelle La Croix at Veterinary Medical Center of LI.
She just recently joined the practice in March 2007, she is Veterinary Ophthalmologist (there are only 2 on LI, she is one and the other one is Dr. Sapienza at Long Island Veterinary Specialists who I orginally brought her too.
I strongly dislike this man, he is arrogant, pompous and just plain rude. He could care less about Hershey and the pain she is in.
Hershey has indolcent uclers in her eyes and will be having a procedure tommorrow with Dr. Noelle La Croix.
She is so much better, so warm and kind and actually cares about Hershey. She was on the floor with her during the exam, petting her, and talking to her.
She explained everything to me, gave me options and we talked for about 45 minutes on the best option for Hershey.
I am so hoping this procedure will help Hershey's eye and she will be more comfortable.
I am much more confident and comfortable this doctor and I have such a better feeling.
Please think of Hershey tomorrow!!
Update: So Hershey had the procedure done on her right eye on Wednesday and she stayed over night. They managed her pain and I picked her up on Thursday.
She is doing well. Dr. La Croix sewed her eye 1/2 shut so the contact lense will stay in and help with the healing process and the pain.
I have her on pain meds to make her more comfortable. She isn't trying to paw at her eye, so I keep the ecollar off when I am home, but when I am at work I put it on.
This was such a better experience than when she had the procedure done on her left eye with Dr. Sapienza (a**hole).
I am so happy that Dr. La Croix came to LI (she and Dr. Sapienza) are the only two eye doctors for animals on LI.
I feel better and I have a really good feeling that Hershey's eye will heal and she will not have ulcers anymore in her eyes.
I'll keep you all updated!
Hershey and I thank you for all the good thoughts and support!!!!
Update 5/16 - I just wanted to let everyone know that Hershey is doing AWESOME!!! She got her stitches out yesterday and her eye looks good.
She has no pain and she looks normal!!! I am so happy and relieved!
I can not say enough about Dr. Noelle La Croix at the Veterinary Medical Center in West Islip. I AM SO HAPPY SHE CAME TO LI WHEN SHE DID!!!
I refused to bring Hershey back to Dr. Sapienza at Long Island Veterinary Specialists because of the way he treated her. I was about to bring her to a doctor in the city.
Everyone at the Veterinary Medical Center was so good to Hershey.
Hershey is back to being my loveable and happy Hershey and I am just so happy!!!
We gave her a bath yesterday for first time in a long time because of her eyes. Below is a pic after her and Sarge's bath. Hershey is the brown one.

Re: UPDATE & PIC 5/16 - Hershey got her stitches out!
SO glad to hear Hershey is doing well! Both your pups are beautiful and deserve the best care in the world - ALL our pets do!
I had a terrible experience with LIVets in Plainview too - that's where Ebony passed away. I would NEVER use them again, or recommend them - from the staff on hand to the Dr. in charge it was awful. Glad to know there is an option out there, where the Drs are caring and capable.
Yay Hershey!
