My fear now.....

is that IF I start having contractions (more than 4-6 in an hr according to the Dr) I won't recognize them or think they are just the baby moving around or I'm just tightening from too much activity.

With DD, I was induced and before they broke my water, they were every 4 minutes for 70 seconds and while I felt them, I did not feel displaced or overly uncomfortable for the most part. I found it completely bearable.

So now I'm worried I may actually GO into labor (early) and not even know it.....

Re: My fear now.....

they told you 4-6 in an hour? That doesnt seem like much at all. You could have 4-6 contractions an hour for days literally.....

i have about 7 or more in an hour sometimes now....

My Dr said if they are every 5 minutes or less and strong enough to feel pain . Thats about 12 an hour....

Eventually if your having a lot of contractions, your water will break, you cant mistake that too easily...

Dont worry, you will know...

Not sure if that helps ya at all....

I didn't call until they were every 5 minutes. I was glad I labored at home.

Re: My fear now.....

That is my worry too. Sometimes I get this pain wondering if it was a kick, HB or a real contraction.

I won't rest until I am at least 35 wks. Then... I don't care!!!

Re: My fear now.....

That's my current fear.

I was told when they were 5 minutes apart to call, which is like 12 in an hour.

But between the huge baby moving around, the gas pains, the BH and just general discomfort, I'm afraid I'mm miss the signs of labor too.

Yes my birthing coach told me every 5 minutes for at least an hour straight. My Dr. told me to stay home until then since I want a natural birth. I want to labor at home as long as possible.

Re: My fear now.....

Shana, when you go into labor you'll know it. With Nate I had contractions for weeks, but a few days after I lost my plug I woke up one morning and knew I was in labor. I labored at home for 8 hours before calling the doctor. I think my contractions were 5-6 min apart at that point. IMO the real painful ones don't come until you water breaks.

My dr told me the same thing as of now. But when I was about 34 weeks like Shana, the dr wanted to see me when I was feeling them, no matter of the timing. So maybe that is why the dr said 7 an hour.

Re: My fear now.....

thank you all for your input....

It's the fact that even in the hospital last time around, I hardly knew I was contracting AT ALL. I was having irregular ones (I'm guessing) for quite awhile previous to her birth, and now with the extra strain of caring for her and this baby being so low that I won't know or I'll dismiss the contractions as just being uncomfortable.

I never lost my plug and they broke my water after the induction, so all I recall is the gush of fluid when the broke my water.

Re: My fear now.....

I started at 6-10 minutes apart and they weren't bad, but once they got under 6 it's much different.

Re: My fear now.....

I labored for two days with contractions every 4 minutes - but they didnt hurt that much - so while I was aware of them, I didnt rush to the hospital.

Never lost my mucus plug, the dr. broke my water - and I had pitocin for 11 hours - still ended up with a c-section.

Re: My fear now.....

I think we all have this type of worry from time to time...

My biggest fear right now is that I will go into preterm labor..AGAIN...But I just have to keep reminding myself that Ive caught it twice before (previous pregnancy) and will again...

My 2nd fear is that Im not going to make it to the hospital when it is time to give birth...

Just dont be afraid to call your doctor and everything will be fine...
