Re: planning your own shower...

Yes and NO.

IMO, I would think it would look tacky if the invites said the shower was thrown by you or DH.

Re: planning your own shower...

Could you maybe do it with another person and just be a really big help? I don't see why you couldn't plan your own, but being the host might be a little weird IMO.

If you want a shower and you don't think anyone can/will do it for you, throw it. As long as you don't care what other people thinkChat Icon

Re: planning your own shower...

I'm not doing the entire shower, but helping out a great deal. My Mom is not really well and can't move around alot so running to stores etc.. is out of the question for her.

I will not Host, she's still hosting the shower, but I've given her ideas, did the invites myself etc... This week, I'll be trying my hands a making my own diaper cake Chat Icon

I don't think there is anything wrong with it..especially if you have no one to do it for you. People are always going to talk..who cares!

Re: planning your own shower...

my DH is throwing my family shower AND put his name on the invite as the RSVP, so i dont think theirs anything wrong with it, one of his good freinds did the same thing b/c her mom was dead and she wasnt close with her IL's, my mom is jewish and doesnt want to throw one and my DH mom doesnt have the $$, so my DH decided he wanted me to have one and he was going to do it! its a surprise to me b/c i dont know the date or where it is, just that it will be family (since we are paying for it we had to eliminate friends, unfortunately) as we have a hugh family, i think we had 40-50 on the list and that was with maybe my three best freinds on it, ther est were relativesChat Icon

Re: planning your own shower...

My Dh is planning mine...with my Best Friend too...
We don't all have a mom that can do it for us, or a MIL....

So I wouldn't worry.

Re: planning your own shower...

I picked the date, time, place, invites (printed and mailed them myself) but used my aunt as the RSVP. She yelled at me for planning my own shower, so she and my cousins took over.

I see no problem with it. I am such a control freak it didn't surprise those who knew that I knew.
