What are you washing for the baby

I really don't know how I feel about washing every single outfit that I have for him.

I was planning on washing all pjs and all onesies. My cousin who has worked for a pediatrician for over 10 years said that it's really not necessary to wash everything.

What's everyone's thoughts on this?

Re: What are you washing for the baby

Good question. I'm afraid to wash some of the girly things I've gotten in case we end up with a boy!

Re: What are you washing for the baby

I washed all the newborn stuff, the crib sheets, blankets, socks, and the onsies through 6 months. I'm holding off on the outfits until he arrives, comes closer to the size, etc...

I didn't and don't plan on washing the bumper - I don't even know how I would do that without it getting ruined. Chat Icon

Re: What are you washing for the baby

I am washing everything (sheets, bumper, dust ruffle) all the clothes except for the coming home outfit, since we'll have to return one. We got both a girl & a boy outfit....

ETA: we got more for the crib/nursery than we did for clothes, especially since we do not know the gender. I only have 3 packs of onsies, and about 10 total outfits of al different sizes, plus the coming home outfit.

Re: What are you washing for the baby

DONT wash everything, because I got so much stuff and washed all the onesies, and they wound up outgrowing it before they could wear most of it, you may need to return and get bigger sizes.

I just washed the 0-3 onesies, pj's and outfits.

We have a bassinett, so I washed the sheets for that, plus the towels and the receiving blankets. We set up the crib, but I am 99.99% sure he won't use it before we move so I didn't wash that stuff.

I washed only the sheets, newborn size clothing and the side snap shirts, burp cloths. Everything else I waited for but I also did not receive alot of cloths so I washed as I purchased. I wouldn't wash to much because my SIL ended up having a baby that was nearly 10lbs and if she had washed alot of cloths it a.) wouldnt have fit like the newborn sizes or b.) he would have out grown it in 2 weeks.

I am only going to wash the newborn and 0-3 clothing for now - plus his going home outfit, socks, onesies and all the sheets.

Not doing the rest of the bedding - I wouldn't know how to do that without ruining it. Once he's older - and if it needs a good cleaning it'll go to the dry cleaner probably.

Same here. I didn't have an extreme amount of them, so I figured I'd be safe to wash them all.

I saved the 3-6 month and up items to be washed later.

I did wash all the crib stuff too, just in case we didn't wind up using the bassinet.

I am going to wash everything. As far as the clothes, they are so small it wont take many loads to finish.

Wash it all. You would be surprised if you knew where it's all been.

[dirty warehouses, trucks, all the people touching them in stores...not to mention the bugs and things that were in those warehouses, trucks and boxes.]
