I would love to stay home until my baby goes to Kindergarten! But at the most I will take one year off, maybe more like 12 weeks. Depends on what we can afford.

I'm going back. I get 4 mos maternity leave (full pay) and the option of 2 additional mos part time (pro rata pay). We'll be getting a nanny for when i go back.

I only work part-time, but I'm going back to it immediately -- a week or two after the birth depending on how things are physically. (I'm due in September -- which was not part of the plan, but we're dealing with that.)

My parents will be staying with us for the first 6 weeks and DH has adjusted his work schedule so that he will always be with the baby when I'm working (we both teach college classes).

i'm a teacher- due in june. we are allowed to take 2 years with our jobs guaranteed although not paid. i am taking the first year off completely and using my 85 sick days so i'll get paid too. i'm a librarian so i'll work p/t here and there at the public library. i feel fortunate to be able to do this.

I'm due May 9th and will start my teaching job the last week in August - so I'll have around 15 weeks or so.

I'll be teaching 3 days a week and my dad will watch the baby one day a week. So we're looking for a nanny to come to our apt two days a week.

I am hoping to take 8 weeks off [2 will be unpaid ] and then return. My MIL will be watching the baby for us. If she couldn't, I would have to stop working. I also have the health insurance so that's further incentive to return.

i am not going back. my salary would pay for day care. and to us, that makes no sense. this is just us, not everyone else.

stopping work 3 weeks before the baby is due (due June 22-stopping owok June 1st) and taking 4 months after, going back to work parttime in november 2-3 days a week, my SIL is watching the baby 2 days and if i work a 3rd, prob will put him in daycare for the one day

One year of maternity would be incredible!

I am returning to work but hopefully just part-time evenings and maybe Saturdays so DH can watch the baby. He is looking forward to his alone time with him/her anyway.

Im returning. I get 8weeks full pay then 8weeks at 60%. I carry the insurance and i dont have a choice but to go back. So after my 16 weeks are up, ill be back at work FT. I also work another PT job that i intend on only taking off what i need to recover from giving birth. Its flexible hours and close to home, with only 60% coming in, ill need that money.

I am taking 3 months off...I wish i could do more, but financially it's not an option for us right now.

I think the baby will be going to MIL part time, and my cousin part time to be cared for. Or day care part time..we shall see how it all works out.

I am due the end of June I will be taking off about 3-4 months and then I will start looking for work. Because I am not returning to my old job.

I go back June 4th - that would be 8 wks leave for me...

ETA: He will then go into daycare full time - both DH and Cailen are under my insurance, and we cant afford to live under one salary at all (at this point we are hardly scraping by on 2)

I haven't decided what I am doing. I get 3 months away from my job without losing my shifts. In that time I will decide if I want to return to my job. My biggest obstacle is going to be how I continue to audition while he is still an infant.

i wish i got 1 year maternity - i get whatever Family Medical Leave Act allows - i think 12 weeks unpaid and i doubt i can take that since i'll lose out on vacation accrual etc... it stinks

I'm not pregnant, but DH and I have discussed this.

Originally, I was going to be a SAHM, but the plan is that I will take an extended leave - 6 months (first 8 weeks are paid), then go back to work PT. However, that is all subject to change, and I may very well want to stay home.
