TMI.. Re: Pcos and yeast infections
Ok Im about to lose my frekkin mind. Since going off the pill and being diagnosed with PCOS I have had yeast infections pretty consistantly and I CANT TAKE it anymore!!!!
Thankfully, I don't get the "gross" symtoms of yeast infections, but it is uncomfortable and painful and Im sick of monistat and eating yogurt for a week.
I am cranky and uncomfortable and if DH asks me whats wrong ONE more time I am going to bash his head in with a bat... The last time he asked I said to him "I JUST FREKKIN INJECTED GOOP UP MY VAGINA...Do I NEED to go into more detail?!?!!?" and that shut him up.
I have a feeling it has to do with my screwed up hormones, and will ask at my next appointment, but was wondering if anyone had any insight.

You need to call your ob because there are oral tablets to take for people with chronic yeast infections. The Over the counter stuff only works for the occassional yeast infection. They can also give you nyastatin cream. Also Acidodolphilus (sp?) you can get at vitamin world. No Bding until clear either that just restarts the whole process! I hope this helps!

Re: TMI.. Re: Pcos and yeast infections
I have PCOS as well and had a couple of yeast infections. I took monistat once and it worked fine the other time my obgyn prescribed some other medication that worked as well. I haven't had it in a while. They say yogurt will help keep it away. Good luck.

Hmmm....I've never been told there is a connection between PCOS and Yeast Infections.
I've never had an issue.
Hope you get some relief!!

Are you on Metformin. I think I had read something about PCOS messing with some peoples levels of yeast.

Re: TMI.. Re: Pcos and yeast infections
I would definately mention this to your Doctor sooner rather than later, why suffer?
There are prescription drugs that you can get - it's only one pill, I don't remember the name of it, but they are very good. I get a yeast infection when I take antibiotics, I know how uncomfortable it is. Also try some Tea Tree Oil in the bath, just a few drops in warm water.
I hope you feel better soon

Re: TMI.. Re: Pcos and yeast infections
Not to be too gross but your dh may be reinfecting you. If you had a yeast infection and had relations he may have gotten it. He may not even know he has it. But everytime you clear up yours he may be giving it right back to you. My friend had this with her boyfriend. Both of them were given meds and the infection cleared. And yes it was just a yeast infection and not an std. Hope you find relief soon

Re: TMI.. Re: Pcos and yeast infections
When I was on metformin I started getting yeast infections like crazy. They took me off the metformin for other reasons and then they calmed down. I'd talk with your doctor!!

Re: TMI.. Re: Pcos and yeast infections
I suffered from the same thing. I have PCOS and recurring yeast infections, like every 2 months. I read somewhere that there is a connection. Something with your body's way of breaking down sugar. Yeast thrives off of sugar and I know there is a connection betweeen and insulin and PCOS. Try avoiding things high in sugar like carbs and what not. Also, I got acidopholus (the really stong kind from a vitamin shop, not a pharmacy). Also, have your husband treated.
