they do not do internals until like 37-38 weeks. They are checking with their fingertips to see if u are dilated and or effaced.

Yup... the doctor will check with his/her fingers to see how dilated or effaced your cervix is.
Sounds yucky and uncomfortable, and it can be, but its quick and tells them if anything is happening with your cervix.

Ohhhh I thought an internal was when they did the sono up the "hoo ha" instead of over the belly. I was thinking this whole time that I have had 3 internals already.
