Need help from all Preggos mommas Please!
Hi ladies, I just had my little man back in Dec. and since I became pregnant have wanted to open a baby boutique and I have finally decided to just do it!
SOoo... I need your help with what things preggy mommas would like to buy.
I have my own line of nursery wall letters... so that's on the list, as are hand made blankets and botuique clothing. Can you tell me about your favorite purchases? I'm going to start out small at gift fairs this Spring to feel out what sells well... ALSO if anyone has handmade items that they make and would like to possibly sell let me know, maybe I'd be interested in featuring your merchandise LOL!

I think for me I liked looking for things that werent in the major department stores - stuff that was a bit unexpected, a little funky, etc.
some stuff I liked:
I really liked the slings from lucky-baby.com - cool patterns, good prices. Havent had my baby yet, but I did buy a sling early on.
I like the maternity tee shirts that have cool sayings on them - but I havent bought any cause they're all pretty expensive. There has to be a way to have a tee shirt with a funny saying on it that wont cost me around $50.
there's a cool store on Elizabeth Street in the village - Trust Fund Baby. Most of their stuff is (naturally) overpriced - but they carry a line of soft dolls for babies of famous people - Freud, Shakespeare, Oscar Wilde, Beethoven, etc. I keep meaning to get the Wilde one - they're around $25 I think.
I also really like nursery decor items - cool lamps, bookcases, etc. I kept looking for cool fabrics to stretch over frames - or to make custom bedding with (not that I sew at all - but it was an early idea).

I am a fan of bags personally.
So my list would be
- Diaper bags with matching purses for mom
- wall art (prints, etc...) and decorating items
- memory books
- photo albums
- Memory boxes (hair, teeth, etc..)

Have you ever been to baby fortunoff? Their store is small but so cute, worth a trip over there...they had the cutest little odds & end things. It reminded me more of a baby boutique than a fortnoff owned place. HTH!!

There is a store in Port Jefferson that has great baby items...Grapes...she just started carrying adorable diaper covers that have matching swaddling blankets, booties, and hats...Upscale maternity wear (like Michael Stars t-shirts, etc)...also the barefoot dreams CozyChic collection for kids is great...another great store to check out for ideas is Summer Salt in Bellport Village...I hear the owner is changing the entire store over to baby/children's wear and accessories...
