UNPACKING HELL - So stressed!
We are still in unpacking hell after a little over a month of being in our new house.
DS is so ACTIVE and DH works 12-12 so at the end of the day I'm so tired out I can't do anything. DS takes 1 nap a day and during that time I usually have a bite to eat, take a shower, make the beds and straighten up a bit around the house...basic stuff...
I keep telling DH we have the rest of our lives to unpack, and to stop bugging me constantly. The majority of our stuff has been unpacked but we are in a smaller kitchen then we were in our old place so we have a lot of that stuff sitting in boxes. New spaces are always different and it takes time for everything to find it's place. To make matters worse DH is working super late tonight and TOMORROW so he won't be around to help me.
I am in tears b/c i feel like i work so hard to make things perfect here and all he does is complain that there are still boxes...
Then after he leaves for work today he calls me from his cell to tell me he doesn't want to fight and I've been stressing him out lately and he isn't feeling too well as a result. How the heck am I stressing him out???

Re: UNPACKING HELL - So stressed!
Don't stress about it. If I were you, I'd tell him "Sure, I'll get rid of all the boxes.... when is the bulk garbage pickup? I'll have it on the curb then...." I really don't think a month to unpack with a DC is reasonable, especially without help from DH. Besides him, who really cares if stuff is in boxes? It's actually neater that way than unpacking, and having things all over the place, or digging through every drawer trying to find something because you didn't have a chance to put it where it really should go.

Re: UNPACKING HELL - So stressed!
I think he's giving you all this grief because you're a SAHM and he's out working, so he thinks you have it easier. I say this because I expect DH to do everything around the house when he's home and I'm working and I get all mad if he doesn't! It's unfair...obviously, you have things to do and do them all day. So he just needs to understand that taking care of your baby IS a FT job.
And he needs to help you unpack. You can't be expected to do it alone.
And don't feel bad about not being unpacked. We'll be home for a year next month and the garage is still filled with boxes!

I can only imagine moving with a child. Its hard enough just me & DH, but add a child its gotta be a lot more hectic. Don't worry, you'll get there, just explain to your DH how hard it is. Its gonna be perfect!!

Re: UNPACKING HELL - So stressed!
We've been in our house since November, and there are STILL boxes in what will become the dining room.
Just do a little at a time.....
Good luck!

Re: UNPACKING HELL - So stressed!
all i will say is that every step along the buying, unpacking, packing, etc. process, DH and I were stressed and argued over things with no good reason. It was worth it though. Hang in there.
