Deck slider doors replace with french doors...
My dear sweet dh has gotten the idea that he wants to replace our slider doors on the deck with french doors instead.
Has anyone ever done this? Are there french doors that would even be the same size as the deck door? Not looking for anything crazy with the install...so just trying to get some feedback.
Personalyl I think the french doors will cut into the deck space b/c of the swing out area...

We were also going to do that, but our contractor talked us out of them. They have no screen on them and you lose a decent amount of deck space because you have to leave clearance for them to open.

We did. Our french doors open in, to the dining room. And there is a screen on the outside so we can open them up. Let me see if I can find pics....

During (DH did it in one day with his friend):

Were they the same size as the deck door that was already there?
We have new siding (we didn't install) and I would hate to have a big repair job as a result. I want something to just "pop" into place

Yep, basic standard 6-foot long. DH did lose a few shingles in the process pulling out the old framing, which were easy to replace.. And he had to replace the old, rotten threshold that was under the sliders, but its so much nicer.

Re: Deck slider doors replace with french doors...
I wanted to install french doors but wound up with a slider.
Everyone we spoke to recommended an "in-swing" door. Most are not recommended to swing out into the elements outside. The ones that are, are $$$. At least that's what out research led us to & I didn't want to lose indoor space.
Anyway as long as you have a "standard" door size it shouldn't be too much hassle to replace it.
