Neighborhood spinoff

What are the wonderful things you've discovered about your house that weren't in the ad describing it? What did the real estate agent NOT tell you that you think would've helped to sell the house to you.

We're in London, so it's a little different...but:

We were able to see that we would be close to public transport links, but they're much better than I expected, with great buses and trains

We are super close to a very nice park - again, we could see it when we went to see the house, but we didn't realize how much activity goes on there - ie fireworks, gardening clubs, public swimming pool, etc.

We've got a great pub on the corner - they serve very nice food and it's a great meeting place. Just down the road so it's very convenient for a relaxing drink in the evening, when you want to go out, but not "out"

The one thing we never could have known is how friendly the neighborhood is. We bought in the middle of the winter so no one was out. During the summer people sit on their front lawn, and people take walks around the neighborhood and talk to everyone.

One other little thing - the electrical in our house is hooked up to our own generator for power failures. We have yet to figure out how this works but it could come in very handy the next time there is a black out!

The natural light that comes into the house is AMAZING! During the day, I have to recheck the upstairs bedrooms all the time because I think there are lights on, but it's just the sun shining in. Makes it such a happy house!
