Has anyone used them to do repairs around the home? I checked out their webiste and they're all prescreened and will find professionals in your area.

I used them to find our contractor (for our bathroom) based on the recommendation of a friend. I filled out the questionaire and they sent me 4 GCs who fit my criteria.
It was a nice service...but I hated our GC. Scratch that, I hated the plumber and handy guy who worked for him.

we used them to find a contractor to take down the ceiling in our living room, put up a new ceiling and install recessed lighting. we were VERY happy with the contractor we got. they were professional, did excellent work, and they were very reasonably priced. servicemagic gives you references that you can check out before you hire them.

Actually, I don't have major renovation to do. Just need someone to check the dryer as it so inconveniently stopped working.

I went through service magic, and the people they recommended were not the best. I would not suggest using the site for anything serious. For the most part, the contractors that I spoke with from their site did not seem to be well established.

Just got a call from the company they recommended for the dryer. he was very nice and suggested I try the circuit breaker. It just needed to be shut off then turned on again.
I feel sooooo  I should've known to check!!! AAhhhhh.....the joys of home ownership!!! 
He said he's going to mail me a business card in case I need them in the future.

At least the guy suggested that on the phone and you didn't have him come to the house and charge you!
I have used the site on various occasions. We had good luck with finding someone to sod our backyard and fix the garage door. Not as good of luck with remodeling a bathroom.

I just used them to find a carpet service that would stretch and clean the carpets. The company I picked throught the site did a great job.
