Re: Naming Baby
WE are in a different situation - for us everyone knows the names.
WE are following the Greek tradition where you name the 1st girl or boy after the inlaws.
( that's what we are doing)
If you have 2 girls- the 1st is named after the mil and the 2nd is named after my mom.
Same with boys- the 1st would be fil and the 2nd after my dad.
It's one of those things that means the world to dh so I agreed.

Re: Naming Baby
We told people, maybe its just me, I dont get why it would be a secret unless you think someone wants to "steal" the name who is in the family.

Re: Naming Baby
Only my "Internet" friends knew our choice. I made the mistake early on by sharing some names I liked and got a "oh" and a face from my stepmother. It actually had me question a name or two that we really loved. I didn't want their thoughts on the baby's name or to hear that the slut in high school had that name or some jerk old boyfriend had that name..etc...etc... After that I made up stripper names and said things like "Raven Bambi"...and that put an end to the questions.

Re: Naming Baby
We were hit with opinions before we were even pregnant - some not so nice. So we vowed never to tell anyone.
For this one we are not really sure, so I want to reserve the right to change my mind and don't want people to be disappointed or get used to a name and then that not be it.
It really has nothing to do with feeling better than anyone - I have already dealt with the problems of telling and told myself I won't ever again.
