Re: hopital tour

I never went on one and delivered just fine.
When DS was in the NICU, I learned my way around real quick anyway.

Re: hopital tour

I never went on tours for either of the hospitals I delivered at. As long as you know how to get to the hospital and where (what floor, etc) you have to get to, thats all that really matters. The only thing I DO suggest, is figure out the easiest way to get to the hospital from your house. But once you get there, its easy, and there are TONS of people to help point you in the right direction if you need help.

LIJ is VERY easy to maneuver. Labor and deliv. is the 4th floor (if I remember correctly). You walk in the main evtrance, go to the elevators, and as soon as you get off, there are 2 doors. One leads to L&D and one leads to the maternity ward. You absolutely cannot miss it. You walk into L&D, give them your information, and you will b eon your way Chat Icon

Nah. I am only going on one b/c I am not from LI and don't even know where the hospital is! I had DD in NC in the hospital I was born in and grew up visiting and my mom worked there. I knew my way around and never gave a tour a thought.

Re: hopital tour

Winthrop is easy too. Labor and delivery is on one floor then maternity ward is on another floor. They will take you to maternity so you dont really have ot know .

I went on a tour and really enjoyed it. The tour was more or less for my peace of mind -- now I know that the hospital doesn't seem "too hospital-y," and that the nurses and staff seem really nice. I just like having that reassurance.

Not necessary BUT definitely fun for first time parents...

Im delivering at Huntington and they bring you in through Emergency and then bring you up to the floor...

As long as you know the hospitals MO you are fine..who's going to leave some very pregnant women to wander the halls?

Oh my!!!! This is what we were planning too because we're not from LI and I never even heard of St. Charles. Chat Icon But I was just rushed to the ER (from work) and they took me to St. Charles. Poor DH had to figure out how to get there on his own, in panic state. So, now we know. Chat Icon

We still plan on doing a tour because it'll make us feel better.

Re: hopital tour

It's not necessary, but I think it was helpful. We knew where to go and the different procedures for guests to check in and all that. Plus they played games and gave away prizes and provided refreshments.Chat Icon

I took the tour, and I guess I'm one of those people who needs to know everything beforehand, so it was helpful for me, but nothing that you won't find out the day you get there.

By the way, its the 3rd floor not the 4th at LIJ.
