I got most of my work clothes from the Gap.
They have some nice pants and button down shirts as well as suits and jackets.
I agree, the Pea in the Pod clothes are so expensive.
Motherhood had some work clothes, but I don't like their quality.

The Gap has some nice basics, not a huge selection of formal work clothes but you may be able to find a few pairs of slacks and nice tops.
Motherhood is the cheapest I've seen so far and some of their stuff could be for work (depending on what you have to wear) but their return policy stinks!

Try Mimi Maternity. IMO they have a lot cuter clothes than Motherhood, but they are not nearly as expensive as A Pea in the Pod

Also - go to Destination Maternity - they have sales all the time and they sell all the brands there - Motherhood, Mimi, and Pea in the Pod...
If anyone gets you gift cert for motherhood, it can also be used at Destination maternity for Pea in the Pod if you are into it - i think they are expensive just for the sake of being expensive, to tell you the truth... I mean, really, you CAN go a few months without wearing your 7s Jeans - who needs a pair of maternity 7's, but to each her own....
I did get some nice Mimi stuff for good prices....

I also like JC penney. They have a decent selection and quality. I bought a few pairs of pants that can adjust with your growing belly.
They aren't too expensive either which also is a help.
