I need help with paint color
I am stuggling with choosing paint color for our new 2 bdrm apt in NYC. Since I have rented for almost 10 years, I have not had a chance to experiment with color. Does anyone have some sort of theme running through their house/apartment? For example, do you accent a wall in once color and then have pillows in another room with that color? Or are they all from the same family, complementing, etc.? DH seems to think we need some sort of theme since it is a small space. We like taupe, chocolate, sage/moss green, and cranberry, but are definately open to any ideas! Please post pics!!
TIA!!

I bought an area rug for our living room and pulled all the colors out of that b/c you can see into each room from the other room.

I was thinking of that too. Do you have any pics?

I don't have any at work. I will look when I get home.
Skew posted an HGTV website that has a lot of pictures.

Re: I need help with paint color
My livingroom is butterscotch and the accents are deep maroon & sage. I then have sage in my BR with butterscotch & maroon accents, the bathroom will be almond & moss (close to sage) and the nursery is moss and buttercreme. The kitchen is not done yet, but it will be burnt pumpkin colourwash on the walls & sandstone on the floors, ceiling & countertops.

Re: I need help with paint color
Id suggest sticking to a neutral color for the LR so you can switch up the accent colors if you want. I chose a warm beige (Butte Rock by BM) and my accents are mostly red and little bit of brown.
ETA: in bedrooms I think you can go w/ whatever color you like. In our master bedroom we did a light chocolate brown and right now I have turqouise and dark brown accents. In the spring (if it ever comes!) Im switching to green accents.
I dont think you really need a theme through out the house.

Re: I need help with paint color
We did a beige color in our LR. It matches our couch and light green carpeting.
Kitchen is a creamy yellow with a green countertop.
Benjamin Moore has a great selection of paints.

Benjamin moore has a great site that lets you paint various rooms with color and you can paint back rooms too to see how they work with each other

Re: I need help with paint color
We also have a 2 bedroom in NYC, so I know what you mean. It's hard to pick a color palette when you can see each room from the livingroom!
I have pics in my album, but we have a taupe color in the hallway that "divides" our rich red livingroom from our sage green bedroom. There's enough distance between the red and sage that it doesn't clash.
Our 2 bedroom (office/guest room) is a navy blue which works well with the red when the doors are open, but I think it avoids looking too "patriotic" since we unified the rooms with tan furniture/accents.
Good luck!!
