Sad
I am almost 14 weeks PG. A few weeks ago, my best friend found out that she was PG too (with her 4th). We were SO happy that we were going to be PG together!
She went in for her first appointment today (she has been spotting a little the past few days) and she is miscarrying She should have been 8 weeks, but she saw an empty sac.
I am sad for her and feel guilty in a weird way. I do not know what to say to her besides to tell her how sorry I am.
Just wanted to share.

Re: Sad
I know the guilt! when I was PG the first time, a lady I knew asked me one day: when are you due? i told her. she got this weird look on her face and said "so was i." [i knew she didn't have kids so at first i felt really awful] she had been PG with triplets...they were born about 4 months early. As far as I know, they pulled through...but I felt a little guilty. Then I noticed a friend of a friend was being almost rude to me. I asked the mutual friend what I'd done. She too was due around the same time and had miscarried. I just felt so guilty mainly because these 2 women had waited and tried for their babies and here I was on an "oops!" The 2nd friend did go on to have another child.
While it's OK to be thrilled for your success, it's only natural to feel a little guilty as well. Try not to focus on it too much!

Re: Sad
My cousin got pregnant the same time as me. I miscarried and she is still pregnant, nearly due. (I miscarried 2xactually in the last ten months.) I don't see my cousin much, so she wasn't a constant reminder, but I am aware that she is due soon and I lost that one. I think it will be very difficult for your friend for a while, but it will get easier and I am sure she will be happy for you while sad for herself.
By the way, I am now 14 weeks pregnant and hoping this one sticks. He/she will be my second child. YOu never know, if your friend wants to, she may be pregnant again before too long.
Its nice that you are so sensitive to her situation. There really isn't anything that will make it better, except time. Don't let this take away from your joy, a true friend would not want that.
