How often do you get a raise?

And do you have to ask for it or is it automatic?
I get a cost of living raise every year automatically but my poor DH after working almost 2 yrs at his company had to finally work up the nerve to ask for one which I don't think is fair.

I work for a huge company and we get them 1x per year, although some get more than that - I got 3 significant raises last year.

Once a year but my co is very cheap even though I work for a very big co. I got less than a 2% increase this year but our health cost went up so at the end of the day I bring home less than I did last year.

Every year we get a raise. And no, we do not need to ask for it.

Once a year... usually between 5-6%. Although some years I was able to negotiate more thanks to some very hard earned work.

1x a year. The percentage varies from year to year.

We get a cost of living raise every year and an annual review and then raise a few months after that every year. We also have a "career path" envirnoment where you can be given an addtional raise which is harder to get, about once every 2-5 years, depending on how hard you work and what you acheive.

1x - i go up on the salary scale, and then whatever increase was put into the budget (teachers in no. va schools got like $3000+ increases because they're in a salary war)

Where I am, however, is $1100 more than what a first year teachers made last year

i've been there just over a year and have yet to see one. my boss seems to be in a tiny financial slump so i wont ask. maybe after 2 yrs i will though.

I get automatic raises through my union and on my anniversary date every year

Depends on how well the company is doing. I received a raise of 6.5% last year plus a nice bonus, but I hadn't received a raise for 2 years prior to that. The $$ just wasn't there.

I'm hoping for a raise this year, but you never know. I'm probably going to start job hunting by the end of the year.
