Is this weird or inappropriate to...
Call the homeowners and ask them if we can stop by to take a few measurements (at their convenience)? The last time we were at the house was 1/29 for the inspection and we are not closing until 4/2.
They are really nice and gave us their contact info.
DH thinks this is weird. Do you guys?

I would make the request through the RE and they can ask for you.
It's not an uncommon request but if you are dealing with RE's it's best to do it through them. Some owners do not like direct communication with the buyers.
ETA: I didn't see they gave you their contact info.
Then by all means, call them. Easier that way for all involved.

nope it's not weird at all, especially since they gave you their contact info.
I've had a few friends do the same (like to get the measurements for the appliances, etc).
Call them!

Like the others have said it's definitely not weird, but make your request through the real estate agents.
We called the seller's agent (who worked on our behalf also) We were actually at the house last night waiting for Empire Carpet to show  (long story!)

That's a pretty regular request. We even asked for a half a day so we could get quotes for a new heating system and CAC. We made the request through the RE agent.

Thanks - the sellers have contacted us a few times themselves since we have been in contract - so you still think I need to go through the RE?

even though you have their contact info I would still okay it through the realtor.
