has anyone ever had a cesspool collapse?

ours looks like its about too and my dh is calling places right now to come over and give us estimates.

Does anyone have any idea what something like this might cost?

I haven't - but I have heard that it usually happens when the cesspool is over 40 years and has been recently emptied (nothing holding the sides)

When we had ours pumped (which I found out later we should have done) - they mentioned that we would need a new one and it was about $2500-3000

If and when you find out...let us know how much. Ours is sort of sinking too and I'm not sure what the deal is..

Re: has anyone ever had a cesspool collapse?

We just had this done not becuase it was collapsing but because we were redoing our basement and had some issues with it. We used Payless Cesspool 1800.660.6612 and speak to Jimmy the owner. It cost us I believe around $3000 and another couple of hundred to have it pumped out. The previous owners we found out in the 15 years they lived here NEVER had it pumped so we had over 6500 gallons of waste sitting in our cesspool. JImmy was very helpful and told us what our best option we were very comfortable with him and they were in and out in less than 5 hours.

GOOD LUCK

My sister recently had this happen. It is so scary, because her kids play on her front lawn, where the cesspool is located. It cost her about $3500.00 to repalce it.

Our cesspools are original to the house (40+ years old now) and we are keeping our fingers crossed! We've had them pumped 2x in the 6 years we lived here. They are indeed prone to collapse when you pump if they are old because they are more than likely cinder block construction the the integrity of the sidewall is compromised.

The newer cesspools are precast concrete rings and have a much greater life span and it is beneficial to have them put in if you fear collapse. Estimates can vary depending on access, # of pools, etc. A range would be $2500-$4500.

We are doing the fingers crossed thing also. It's just the two of us and we've only been in the house for a year and a half so we are trying to wait.

Has anyone heard of homeowners covering the replacement?

Re: has anyone ever had a cesspool collapse?

is it the same thing as a sinkhole collapse?

we called a few places and were asked what insurance company we have. But it hasn't actually collapsed, the ground is sort of sinking. We had our cesspool pumped last year..

One guy told us it could cost about $7,000Chat Icon because they have to dig all the way down until they find sand or something..
We dont have that kind of money and we definitly have to get this taken care of!
