This might be TMI but....
is anyone else afraid of having a bowel movement during birth? I wonder how common this is.

There were a few posts on this....
I hear it is quite common & they clean it up so quickly that you don't even know it happened.
Jenny McCarthy talks about this in her book Belly Laughs.

it's pretty common from the type of pushing you are doing.....
I hadn't eaten all day so I escaped the embarassment (at least I think so...)

Yes, it totally grosses me out! I ask my best friend if she did, and her response was, " Umm...just about the whole 2 hours I was pushing!" She said that she hadn't eaten anything either.

At this point, I really just don't care.
I am going to be spread eagle on the table. I don't want to see anything and DH will be by my side/head.
I am usually very prude but like many people had warned me... you just don't care when you are on the table during childbirth. I think I can believe it now that I am PG.

Although, my Bradley teacher reassured me that your rectum gets so compressed while giving birth because you are pushing a baby out, and the baby pushes everything out of the way, that the chance of anything else coming out is really slim... the rectum essentially is closed when you feel the most pressure (and when you feel most like you are about to "go") so I'm thinking that it doesn't happen that often, and its not like a big poop on the delivery table!!!

I have come to the conclusion that there is not such thing as TMI on this board
And yes, I am not a fan of this happening. I just hope I am too distracted to notice it
