Stamford CT
Hi - so DH and I are thinking about moving to fairfield county. We are going to look at Westport, Wilton, Weston and Stamford. However, I know the Stamford has some nice and not so nice areas - Does anyone know which neighborhoods in Stamford are considered nice places to live.
I just want to know which areas of Stamford I should be looking at. Any guidance is appreciated...

I don't know much about Stamford. My BIL works there and he likes it a lot. Stamford is like a small city with high rise buildings and etc.
My BIL and SIL live in Darien which is about 7 min from Stamford and they love it. The area is great and schools are incredible. They really like the area and know a lot of people in that area who love it also.

we go out in stamford...but never looked at homes there
eta:schools are okay...not the best, not terrible either...
I was thinking...if you like wilton, westport area...check out darien and new canaan!

Wilton, Westport and Weston are great. I have friends in Wilton, our jeweler is in Westport and another friend that used to live in Weston.
DH lived in Stamford, Fairfield and Norwalk for quite some time, but unfortunately he's not home right now so I'll have to get back to you.

Porkchop does live in Stamford, not far from my Bro/SIL. They live in North Stamford close to the Merritt. Where they live is very nice, not sure if there is a "name" for their area.
I know they are looking to move to Westport in the next 2 years though (when their daughter starts school).

I lived in Norwalk for 3 years (less than 10 miles from Stamford). I'm not exactly sure which are the nicer areas, but the school district isn't great. The other areas you mentioned are really nice and have much better schools.
ETA: If you're looking in that area, I'd also consider Darien, New Canaan, Ridgefield, and Cos Cob.
