what vitamins do you take?
i've been taking a one a day essential multivitamin along with a folic acid supplement. The doctor said thats fine, just check the amount of vitamin A. I should not be taking more than 2700IU. Well, my multi is 5000 IU.
What multivitamins do you take? I'm going to need to pick some new ones up today..Either that or take the sample prenatals they gave me.

I take a prescription- but my doctor had also recommended GNC along with Expecta (another DHA supplement)

My doctor just switched me from my multi-vitamin because it was too high in A (5000 like yours) and E. He said you have to be careful of E too. So he gave me a prescription for NataFort, which is a prenatel with iron. Only has 1000 IU of Vitamin A and 11IU of Vitamin E.

Extra Calcuim (due to blood thinners that I am on)

Gummy vites (okay with doctor) because the prenatals are making me sicker again. She said after 12 weeks, I have to go back on them though  I also take folic acid.

See, I think mine is Precare (yellow, diamond shaped pills?). I am paranoid about getting enough folic acid, so I've asked my Dr. twice about whether I need to be taking an additional folic acid supplement, and he says "no, your prenatal covers that". But I am paranoid!! And my vitamins don't have a breakdown of components like my Centrum did & other vitamins do, so I'm nervous about it.
I have another Dr. on Monday, I'll ask him too!
ETA: For those who take a prenatal AND a folic acid supplement, what was the reasoning your Doc recommended the supplement? I'm just curious, and again, paranoid that I'm not getting enough!

My girlfriend took extra Folic Acid because she has an aunt with Spina Bifida so to ensure the baby developed correctly she needed the extra folic acid. Most women only need 1mg though.
